This PowerPoint describes a number elements associated with human migration including: push factors, pull factors, emigration vs. immigration, refugees, and cultural diffusion. In addition to providing information about the afore mentioned topics, this presentation includes slides promoting Kagan structures in between each topic. This project corresponds with the BUILT acronym of culture (beliefs, understandings, institutions, language, and technology). Students will create a brochure which features their understanding of each element of culture and include examples for each element.
This slideshow contains an introduction to the concept of culture (using the BUILT acronym). In addition to introducing the concept the slides also contain a large number of examples for each element of culture. These examples can be used as review or they can be spread around and used for a scavenger hunt.

This file is designed to be used in the Kagan structure "Quiz-Quiz-Trade". Print out the cards on a double-sided page, the term will be on one side and the definition will be on the reverse. The students can then use the cards to quiz each other and believe me they really love this activity. You can also use the cards as vocabulary flash cards without any adjustment to the files. Enjoy!
