About the store

I have worked for almost 30 years (27and counting!) in public education. I have spent the bulk of my career in high school teaching everything from biology to physics--with some computer science sprinkled in for good measure! My current teaching assignment has me teaching 8th grade Earth Science--I am blessed to be a part of the most dynamic and challenging group of learners--the Middles!

Talking Stems for Productive Discussion

Sentence starters resource to help facilitate academic discussions. They help students to use appropriate disagree/agree/clarify statements during classroom discussions that are appropriate and help to move the conversation forward.I will normally laminate these, and tape/glue them to the students desks so that they always have a quick reference during ANY discussion that may arise. I like to use this goal setting sheet in the first or second week of school. It is often used in conjunction with “growth mindset” lessons which are a large part of my districts SEL program. I will SAVE these surveys/assignments, and when I conference with my students (usually biweekly) so they can reflect, and modify their steps.
