I’m Deann Leopard and I’m heading into my 13th year teaching 7th grade math. I have a passion for designing meaningful, engaging resources that help bring math to life in the classroom. I especially enjoy creating thin sliced tasks and using the Building Thinking Classrooms framework to encourage deep thinking, collaboration, and student independence. Teaching style
I really enjoy using the Building Thinking Classrooms framework and allow my students to use productive struggle as they work collaboratively to understand and engage in math concepts. I love incorporating technology and hands-on activities to help students deepen their understanding.
My own education history
I have a Bachelors Degree in Secondary Mathematics Education and a Masters Degree in Teaching and Learning. I am also a National Board Certified Teacher in Early Adolescence Mathematics.

I am a wife and a mom to a handsome young man and a beautiful little girl. I enjoy reading fantasy books, napping, and spending time with my family (and dogs).
