This document demonstrates how to solve basic fraction and decimal calculations. It addresses like and unlike denominators. Topics of simplifying and finding the least common multiple is shown. Decimal operations attend to place value and the significance of the power of 10.
This is designed to be a parent guide to the grade 5 common core math standards. Teachers may want to use it as a pacing guide. I have taken every standard and broken it down using simple explanations and relevant examples. Examples are from highly regarded sites like Massachusetts DESE and illustrativemath.com. Both are given credit in work.
On a single 11" by 17" page are five identical number lines, ranging from -25 to 25. Formatted on Excel; it is editable and printable. I recommend that you print it out, make several copies, separate the number lines with a paper cutter then tape on each desk in your classroom or build it into an interactive notebook.

I have been teaching 7th grade math since 2011. Before that, I taught Life Skills, aka, Family and Consumer Science, for 9 years.

From Fitchburg State University received a Masters in Middle School Education and from Lesley University received a Masters in Middle School Math.
