About the store
I have taught 7th-9th grade since 2016 so I'm wrapping up my 9th year of teaching. I mainly teach Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1 (Math 1). I also help with math intervention in building number sense fluency so I do work with 5th and 6th grade some as well. I have also presented at professional development conferences regarding the importance of vertical alignment and scaffolding in the classroom.

Combining Like Terms Anchor Chart

I created a black and white anchor chart for my students that will be printed on color paper for them to keep in their binder this year. I incorporated some vocab and some misconception pieces such as x = x^1 and 0x = 0. Hope it helps you too!

A lot of the multiplication charts I see are so brightly colored and this fit with my color scheme better. So, I thought I'd see if anyone else could use this too.

About the store

Experience

I have taught 7th-9th grade since 2016 so I'm wrapping up my 9th year of teaching. I mainly teach Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1 (Math 1). I also help with math intervention in building number sense fluency so I do work with 5th and 6th grade some as well. I have also presented at professional development conferences regarding the importance of vertical alignment and scaffolding in the classroom.

Teaching style

I do a lot of whole group modeling, but I make time for independent and small group practice as well. I regularly embed prior knowledge skills and strategies as access points to grade level content. The more strategies they have access to, the more likely they are to grow and feel confident in their math abilities.

My own education history

I have a music education degree from a liberal arts college in Nashville, TN, but ended up going back to school a few years later to get my math education degree for middle grades from North Carolina State University.

Additional biographical information

I am from North Carolina originally. We have two pets -- a pudgy middle-aged shorthaired tuxedo and a devious, needy 1.5 year old beagle mix who looks like an overgrown dachshund. We are also finally getting married this summer!! We've known each other since 2010 and been together since 2018.
