I believe that a strong classroom environment must begin with making connections to build a sense of community, commitment to learning by the teacher and students, and confidence building. Establishing strong relationships with and among my students is foundational to creating an environment where everyone feels safe, valued and supported. My classroom thrives on positivity and interactions, fostering an atmosphere where students are encouraged to engage, collaborate, and express themselves freely.
I have a deep appreciation for middle schoolers and their spontaneity, and I embrace this energy in my teaching. I understand that middle school is a time of significant change, filled with social pressures and distractions. Therefore, I strive to create a safe, inclusive space where students can explore their identities and develop a sense of belonging.
Hands-on learning and relevance to students' lives are central to my teaching approach. I enjoy designing and implementing resources that make learning interactive and meaningful. By connecting lessons to real-world experiences and students' interests, I aim to spark curiosity and motivation, ensuring that learning is both engaging and applicable.
My goal is to equip students with not only academic knowledge but also the social and emotional skills necessary to navigate the challenges of middle school and beyond. By nurturing a classroom culture that values community, positivity, and active participation, I aim to inspire a lifelong love of learning in each of my students and an understanding that nobody is "bad at math"!
