About the store
I have over three years of biological research experience studying FISH! I worked on Lake Superior for multiple years along with traveling and researching in Interior Alaska. However, my heart wanted to be in one spot... and that was a classroom! So I decided to go back to school, get my Masters in education and I've been teaching ever since! I spent five years teaching middle school and decided to take the jump to high school. For the last year, I have been teaching biology and anatomy and physiology.

Teaching style

My research experiences have led me to include a lot of questions and inquiry into my lessons. I love having the kids use their brain and think out of the box! A lot of my lessons focus on skills that are transferable to multiple subjects within science and across disciplinary topics. I teach at a standard based grading school, so many of my lessons and assessments are focused on that.

Awards & shining teacher moments

2019 State Finalist for Herb Kohl Teacher Fellowship Golden Key Honor Society 2022, 2023 Teacher of the Year - District Golden Apple Nominee 2019-2024

My own education history

I graduated from Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin, with a Bachelors of Science in Natural Resources and Biology, with a minor in Environmental Studies. I have a Masters in Education from Colorado State University.

Additional biographical information

I'm Midwest born and raised straight from the farm. My love for nature and the outdoors spills over into my classroom. I have two daughters, along with two four-legged daughters, a lab named Tulli and a rescued mutt named Kona.
