About the store
My journey working with children began as the oldest sibling in my family, where I took on the responsibility of caring for my younger brothers and sisters. From there, I branched into childcare at the YMCA, starting as a teacher’s assistant before eventually running my own classroom. When I moved away for college, I continued my passion for working with kids by becoming a before- and after-school teacher, which fit perfectly into my busy schedule while still giving me the opportunity to do what I love most—spending my days with students. One of my favorite parts of teaching is being a child’s familiar face first thing in the morning and the last teacher they see before heading home. I take pride in building strong, positive connections with every child I meet, making sure they feel seen, valued, and supported. Along the way, I’ve also completed online courses at Penn State University through their Better Kid Care program, which gave me deeper insight into early childhood development and how young minds learn best. These experiences have shaped me into a teacher who is dedicated, adaptable, and passionate about helping kids grow both academically and personally.

This is a star student of the week paper I made for my room. It worked well with encouraging good and kind behavior and showing the class the students that are silent leaders. Then making a day to talk about these students and what I, the teacher, noticed from them. I used the option of having two stars so the fame can get spread out easier among lots of kind friends!

Experience

My journey working with children began as the oldest sibling in my family, where I took on the responsibility of caring for my younger brothers and sisters. Teaching style

My teaching style is fun, creative, and engaging, with a strong focus on giving kids the space to express themselves. I love incorporating crafts and hands-on projects that let students showcase their imagination, while still balancing that with teacher-led guidance to keep everyone on track and learning. Most of my activities are child-led, which encourages independence and confidence, but I also weave in structured lessons to build skills and ensure progress. I find so much joy in watching what children can create when given the tools and freedom to explore, all while maintaining an organized and supportive environment that helps them grow.

Additional biographical information

I’m 22 years old and currently work as a before- and after-school teacher with kids in grades K–4. I’ve always loved working with children—their creativity, curiosity, and unique ways of looking at the world inspire me every day. Teaching gives me the chance to connect, guide, and encourage my students, while also letting me explore fun and engaging ways to support their learning. Alongside teaching, I’m in school for nursing and proudly serve in the Army National Guard as a combat medic. I’ve worked with kids for most of my life, and I love sharing the worksheets and activities I create that my students truly enjoy. Starting this side project gives me the chance to showcase the handmade resources I use in my classroom while continuing to combine my passion for helping others, both in education and beyond!
