Experience

I am a special education teacher for a k-8 school in the rural Appalachian Mountains. I teach reading, math, and behavioral skills. I previously taught private music lessons for 8 years teaching percussion, ukulele, and piano lessons as well as group classes.

Teaching style

I am passionate about evidence based and research based practices, especially for behavioral skills. I love inspiring students to love learning, encouraging students to advocate for themselves, and guiding self led learning.

My own education history

I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Music and Philosophy & Religion from Western Carolina University, received a Master's Degree from Truman State University in Percussion Performance. I am currently earning a teaching license in Special Education at Western Carolina University.
