About the store
Hi! My name is Ashley Reeves and I am totally devoted to all things children. I knew when I was young that I wanted to be a teacher. It felt right, like it was exactly what I was meant to do, I have been told by others that working with children is my calling. This led to me working in a Montessori school where I gained concrete knowledge on the Montessori philosophy, method, principles and how to implement them. This built the foundation for my career with children. I also completed a course certifying me as a National Geographic educator. Not only did this course align my teaching with the National Geographic standards and practices, it also taught me how to create and scaffold learning in a way that a child can understand how things happen while considering a global impact. I have worked directly with children and families navigating the foster care system, coaching and educating parents as well as learning about the adverse experiences that come with this exposure. This has led to a greater understanding of the real life impacts to children, their emotional resilience and their mental health. I also geek out on all things psychology. Understanding how the brain works and why people do what they do can engross me endlessly in thought and rumination. This is why Psychology is the focus of my personal academic career. I currently homeschool my son and continue creating curriculum, content and sources for education for him. I have helped start two homeschooling co-ops and I work tirelessly at fostering a genuine love of learning. I believe learning never ends and if we can keep that curiosity and spark of creativity alive, we can lead more fulfilled, joyful, whole filled lives. This all lead me to the creation of Mindschooling, all of its resources and curriculum. I hope you and your child enjoy all this has to offer and are able to connect a little more closely through it.

Teaching style

I have created my own unique blend of the Waldorf, Montessori and Reggio Emilia pedagogies that also incorporates mindfulness, nature learning, unschooling and is ultimately play based with deep connection to caregiver/teacher. There is no doubt now that children learn best through play. So why not teach that way? I also incorporate adaptations for the various learning styles in children, when available.
