Experience

I've been teaching for fifteen years. In that time, I've worked at five different schools in three states. I've taught all areas of language arts, including English, Drama, Speech, Composition, Reading, Journalism, and Language Arts (specific to the middle school grades).

Teaching style

I enjoy teaching the most when my students are active. Many of my activities will allow students to put their hands on products and create something that showcases their knowledge. I also live to write, so I try to integrate writing into almost every activity.

Awards & shining teacher moments

My newspaper staff, at my previous high school, won several awards at the OSMA competition, hosted annually at Kent State University. In 2014 I was awarded a Prestigious Teaching Distinction by Baldwin Wallace University and a former student. I am also a published author. I primarily write women's fiction novels. My current works: Meet Me at the Pond and Meet Me at Fountain Park are available through Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

My own education history

I obtained my bachelor's degrees in both English composition and AYA 7-12 Language Arts Education from Heidelberg University in Tiffin, OH. I received my masters degrees in Curriculum and Instruction and Reading from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, OH.
