About the store

Experience

I'm a first year Special Education teacher at Pocahontas Middle School. I teach 6th grade English in both the Self-contained and Collaborative settings, as well as Collaborative Math and Reading Skills. I got my BS in Special Education at Liberty University and took extra classes to obtain an additional certification in Elementary Education.

Teaching style

Every class starts with a warm-up of some kind that either activates prior knowledge needed for the day's activities, reinforces old concepts, or serves as a pre-assessment of what students know about something we'll be starting soon. I usually go over this and then head into direct instruction on whatever, then we'll play relevant games for guided practice and start individualized independent practice. After that, we'll review the concept as a class, clear up any misconceptions and answer all questions and move forward.
