This mini unit is on how to write a folktale. First, we read African Folktales on animals (all online) and watch some videos (all online) and then we write one. The title is "How (an animal) got its (body part). Included is a brainstorming sheet, outline sheet, rough draft writing sheet, and good copy sheet. Since folktales were passed around orally I also include a sheet on tips on reading with expression.

Full of ideas for a fun Christmas Party. There is Christmas trivia, Scavenger Hunt, Charade words, Pictionary words and Guess Who. All ready to go. All you have to do is print it off. Perfect for grade three and up and ESL classes.

This mini unit is made to explain the three elements of writing a story-character, setting and plot. The worksheets provided will give the students a chance to think deeper about each element and then at the end they use what they have written to write their own story.

This mini unit has a page of riddles students can solve, a template so they can see how riddles are written, and a worksheet for students so they can write their own. Also included is a good copy sheet where they can write their revised copy on. It is a fun writing activity. It is good to do in these last few days before Christmas. Can break it up so can do it around all the business that this season brings to the classroom!

This lesson will give your students an opportunity to look for different cities, communities, lines of latitude and bodies of water in Canada. You can use a map online to fill in the answers (I listed the one I used) or you can use your school atlas. Answers are included.

A template that can be used for grades 2-5 to write about Peace. Have included the sentence starters that I used for my class. Can be written into a poem or be left and used as a paragraph.

This package has little images that one can use for students to draw pictures around. It is meant for students to use their imaginations. The nice thing is no one is wrong and they can see that there can be many different ideas from one image.

Students are poetry detectives and dig deeper into a poem that they have selected themselves.
