Language Arts Balanced Literacy Lesson Plan Template includes Direct Instruction, Guided Practice, Whole Class Instruction, Guided Reading Groups, and Writing.
I use this with my students to create a SMART Goal in all grade levels at the beginning of the year based on their grades from the previous year. We revisit our goal every two weeks to see how we are progressing. Once we've achieved the goal it is celebrated! Then, we make a new goal (if appropriate)!! The second page is blank in case you want to use this template to create a standardized test goal, such as NWEA MAP!
Students paste conversation candy hearts into the big heart. I would suggest printing this on Cardstock or construction paper for a sturdy foundation to hold the candy pieces.
Students use different colored cubes once they spin the R-Blend to read and cover a word. If that word has been covered by their partner they can bump it and place their cube in it's place. When the time is up the players count their cubes. The player that has the most cubes is the winner.

Note that can be taped to a glow stick or glow bracelet from the local dollar store. The kiddos loved it and so did the parents! A great note to start the year off on the right foot!
