Simple activity to help students differentiate between horizontal, vertical and oblique lines while working on their fine motor skills.

This project focuses on both ancient civilizations and the fundamental needs of humans. Students are required to focus on one fundamental need and how it has developed and changed over time. Students were each given the outline so they could use it as a checklist. They were asked to record the fundamental need of their choice so I could see what each student had selected and make sure a variety were chosen. I encouraged students to choose different needs. A basic guide for students to begin an independent research project. I completed a mini-lesson on how to start an independent research project with my grade 2 students. They were all very excited to get started! I posted this as a basic guideline for those students who didn't know where to start. This got all students started!

Have a few of these laminated in the classroom. Students use them with a whiteboard erase marker to make sure they have completed a self-editing process.
