A fun pub quiz for a Maths class, can be used for first day of school or last, a cover lesson or just for fun anytime! It can be easily adapted to any age range if you change a few numbers to make it easier or more difficult, but I find it works for all my classes. The rounds are riddles, calculations, shapes, true or false and history of Maths. Answer sheets and handouts included.
EAL activity for the IB MYP 3 courseAll unit-related words for Chapter 3 on 'Linear relationships' in the Oxford Secondary MYP 3 textbookIdeal activity for the start of the unit Students translate into their home language using a dictionary or Google translate, and add their own diagramsEncourages Mother TongueEditable document Can be used as a cover lesson Extension: students show and tell a word from their own language for other students to learn (international mindedness)
Can be used as a starter, Maths Club activity, cover lesson etc. The idea is for the students to use research skills to find the answers when they haven't learnt these topics yet (ie Fibonacci sequences - what is that?) It also teaches them how to find out information on their own with useful search prompts. Can be done in groups/individually as a race against each other or the clock.
