About the store

Experience

With nearly 30 years in special education, I bring extensive experience supporting students with Extensive Support Needs (ESN). I began as a paraprofessional and later earned my teaching credential and Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I now teach TK–2nd grade as an Education Specialist, focusing on creating modified, accessible, and inclusive curriculum for diverse learners. My passion is designing materials that help every student succeed.

Teaching style

My teaching style blends structure, play, and communication to create a supportive and engaging learning environment. I believe students learn best through play, hands-on exploration, and meaningful interactions. I use a highly structured and predictable daily routine paired with visual supports to help students feel safe, confident, and ready to learn. Communication always comes first—whether through speech, AAC, gestures, or core words. I also prioritize sensory regulation by offering movement, sensory tools, and calm spaces so students can stay regulated and successful. Above all, I make sure my classroom is never boring—learning is active, joyful, and designed to meet each child right where they are.

Awards & shining teacher moments

This year, I was honored to receive a “You Make A Difference” award from my peers—a recognition that meant so much because it came directly from the colleagues who see my work every day.

My own education history

I have a bachelors degree in special education, completed my teaching credential and later earned my Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I am now an Education Specialist serving students with Extensive Support Needs (ESN) in TK–2nd grade.

Additional biographical information

With almost 30 years of experience in special education, I have dedicated my life to supporting students with extensive support needs. I began my journey as a paraprofessional, working hands-on with students and developing a deep understanding of their unique strengths, challenges, and the power of individualized instruction. After raising my children, I returned to school to earn my teaching credential and Master's degree and currently serve as an Education Specialist in an ESN classroom, working with students from transitional kindergarten through second grade. My greatest passion lies in modifying and adapting curriculum to ensure every child has access to meaningful, engaging, and inclusive learning. Special education is not just my profession—it is my calling and the heart of my work.
