Students will apply their place value skills to research two U.S. states using Ducksters website @ https://www.ducksters.com/geography/usgeography.php. Students will have to record the state population in standard form, expanded form, and word form. They will be asked to also round the state population to the hundred thousands and the thousands place. Then, students will compare the populations of two states using < , > , and =. They will have to add and subtract both state populations.

These worksheets review multiplication comparison and comparison problems. Students should draw a model to solve. Both types of problems are modeled on the first two pages. Then there are two pages of practice.

Both worksheets include rounding steps with an example following the steps. The second page has two word problems applying rounding skills. Answers keys are included. Students use place value understanding to round multi-digit numbers to a certain place.
