This 5-page resource is a full lesson for an introductory to division unit. It includes a step-by-step lesson for the teacher to follow along with two classroom examples to model to students and a worksheet for students to complete as individual work. This lesson strictly follows the Common Core Standard: CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.3.OA.B.6 Understand division as an unknown-factor problem. For example, find 32 ÷ 8 by finding the number that makes 32 when multiplied by 8.
For this center activity, students can work independently or with a partner to put together their 6-piece multiplication puzzle. Students have to match equations with the same product but different factors. For example, students need to pair edges of 2 different triangles that share the same answer. Ex: 3 x 4 = can be paired with 6 x 2 = because they both have a product of 12. This is a fun classroom activity which only takes a few minutes. Each game has a set of 6 triangles which fit together
