Aloha,
This is a writing project inspired by Hawaiian culture. In Hawai‘i we have many ‘?lelo no‘eau, Hawaiian proverbs or sayings,
recorded by Aunty Mary Kawena Puku‘i. These proverbs can take us so far in life, inspiring us to be better. In books, they

This is a great resource to use in the beginning of the year. It is used all year long, any time students get into pairs. The students will have a different partner 12 times without the teacher having to decide who goes with who. It is small enough to laminate and glue in any tablet or binder. I copy it on bright colored paper so students do not lose it. Just tell your students to "Find your 1ʻo clock partner!" and they will have a partner within seconds.
This is a rubric I use for students as a guide. It doubles as a sheet I use to grade their research project they are turning in. It is very clear and straight to the point. Parents also know what I expect. There is an area for student reflection at the bottom
