About the store
My teaching experience ranges from K-8 in gifted resource of language arts and math. My undergraduate degree is from Kansas State University in Elementary Education.My graduate degree is from Wichita State University in Curriculum and Instruction with an Emphasis on Gifted. I have been teaching my personal quest of gifted education for five years, one in a K-8 school and the past four years at an elementary K-5 building. With my background in elementary education, I also have certifications in middle school math, language arts, science, and social studies.
My experience also includes teaching in my undergraduate career. After completing a course in speed reading, I was then recruited to teach the course to various undergraduate, graduate, and veterinary students.
With my kooky personality, I have recently been asked to speak at various conferences about gifted products.

Mysterious Benedict Society: Predictions and Problem Solving Unit Study
Mysterious Benedict Society Unit Study
A small group of specially chosen children are given different problems to help save the world. Given this unit study, your students will make predictions, create their own problem, and then define how each character would solve the problem given their specific traits.
To ensure that the students have an authentic audience, they will then write that idea into a professional letter for the author.
The students will also be in charge of the chapter question

Students love choice!
Given a "menu", they will create projects that will increasingly get harder and higher (thinking skills). Students and teacher can decide which projects are chosen as well as due dates.

As prescribed by Common Core Standards, students need to have seven key ideals and skills by the time they graduate to be College or Career Ready.
This mini-research project will address two of those big ideas:

President Biography Menu
As the leaders of our country, it is pertinent to understand the different men that have been chosen.
This unit will allow students to explore their time in office and basic biographical information. To ensure that they understand the information, they will be given a choice of projects to demonstrate mastery of the information in a creative engaging way.

Interactive Notebook Insert- Graphic Organizer ABCs of a Good Reader
Students can use this graphic organizer to document all the different strategies that they learn throughout the year. Students can also document different language features: figurative language, text features, etc.

Teaching style
I truly try to style myself behind a mixture of Bill Nye and Mrs. Frizzle. I am may be a little kooky but there is a rhyme and reason for everything I do. I demand positivity and reaching for the stars no matter what. I want to share with the world the fun things that my students get to do in my classroom. My theory is that if I'm bored, they are bored. Every moment in my classroom is a blast! Come join me!

My own education history
I am truly a recovering gifted student. I have had amazing teachers that inspired me and teachers that didnt challenge me. My goal is to be the teacher that my students talk about for years, hopefully in a good way. I love my job and all of my students!

I consider myself easily distractable so I try to make my lessons and activities in my classroom engaging and fun. The best classroom management is engaging activities and high expectations.
