I believe that providing students challenging content in a manner that makes it relatable and safe to engage with will address 95% of all classroom management issues.
I also believe that teens deserve humanity and kindness that they are too often denied; and that they are too often get harmed by adults who stereotype them or deny them the human trait of fallibility.
I do not look for reasons to accept or excuse behaviors that keep students from being their best, but instead I try to find the explanations for behaviors so that I can support students in their effort to thrive even when they are not ready to thrive.
