Students draw a picture of a collection of items. Sometimes I display a few for reference. Then students follow directions to create a 3 digit number using a deck of cards. Students use their 2 generated numbers a picture to create a subtraction word problem. Students must also show 2 strategies to solve the problem.
Students will show many ways to create a number with hundreds, tens, and ones. In addition, they will compare numbers and show a number in base ten, written, and expanded form.
This product is great for homework, review, or classwork. Students are solving division on a number line, word problems, and using fact families to solve for the correct answers.
