This bundle includes 6 different chat mats to use in French classes. Chat mats encourage students to stay in the target language by providing them with the necessary expressions. It also encourages more variety by reminding them of what they can say. By using these mats repeatedly throughout the year, the students become comfortable with them and need to look at them less and less.

Here are a variety of resources for French AP that includes a sample syllabus, reference sheets on the test and the different tasks, review activities on the themes, general and useful French expressions vocabulary, peer/self-edit worksheet, and a description of an assignment to research francophone articles.

This worksheet has every line of Prevert's poem Dejeuner du Matin and instructions for students to write their own similar line. In the end students have their own version of the poem. Included is an example poem. I use this activity after learning the poem through a CI method, looking at the poem visually and repeating the lines. I also have the slideshow available for this lesson.

This chatmat is geared towards novice learners practicing a basic "how are you" conversation. However, it gives them more variety than just the basic bien/mal. It also encourages reactions and questions (et toi? désolée!)

This bundle includes my full lesson on Dejeuner du Matin that practices the passe compose in French. I start with the slideshow, reviewing the poem orally with a CI approach. There is also a slide that I use to ask students to logically match the start and end of different lines in the poem. There is also a slide with only pictures that requires students to retell the poem. Then I use the worksheet to have students write their own poem.

This is a presentation with the lines from Prevert's poem, Dejeuner du Matin. It has images to help students visualize the vocabulary and allows for the teacher to teach the poem using a CI method. This Mad Libs activity requires students to use verbs in the passé composé (including reflexives), impératif and future proche. They must also use verbs in the present tense and infinitives as well as after "avant de" and "après". There are some object pronouns and vocabulary dealing with chores, a party and routine. I use it to review for the final at the end of French 2.

This ChatMat is a helpful tool to keep students conversing in French while tasting cheeses! It gives them expressions to describe the cheeses, compare them, ask their peers questions and react to their peers opinions.

This is a reference sheet for students taking the AP French exam. It provides information and strategies for the cultural comparison task. It provides useful reminders and expressions specific to making comparisons.

This is a graphic organizer to review the 6 planets of le businessman, le roi, l'allumeur, le vaniteux, le géographe et le buveur.

This Chatman helps students have a conversation about their weekend or vacation in French. It is meant to be a reminder of what they can say and to encourage them to use a variety of expressions. It doesn’t include the translations in English. It provides them with set expressions/sentences such as “Il s’est bien passé”, “je l’ai fait”, “je me suis levé” and “pour s’amuser”.

This is a college board approved AP French syllabus. Following this syllabus all students passed and the majority receive 4s. Some textbooks are necessary for different readings. Some listening and video are also from textbooks, others can be found on youtube.

This French chat mat provides vocabulary for students to use while playing games in class. While playing with this reference I tell students that they have to stay in French while playing dice games, cards or board games. It includes expressions that I often hear students using in English while playing such as “tu triches!”, “vas-y” and “dépêche-toi!”.

This lesson is a great start to the year by having students consider why we learn a second language at all. I use this assessment in French 1 during our unit on les loisirs et les passe-temps. Students must create a formal mind map that depicts what they do in their free time. It must include all their different activities and details including when, with whom, where, etc. There is a description of the project and a rubric.

This google slides guides students through the process of describing a Halloween character. This is designed for beginners who are creating simple sentences and practicing with basic descriptions. Most of this vocabulary is new for my students and they're practicing it for the first time. I have them write down a few examples from each slide creating different sentences. Then at the end they have to put them together into a description with a drawing.
