About the store

Experience

I have taught for 29 years at grades 4 through 8. I have served as a city wide instructional specialist teaching mathematics instruction and cooperative learning integration. Through my career, I have developed mnemonic devices that have had fantastic results for my students. My inclusion students excel and my advanced students enjoy analyzing them.

Teaching style

I am a very non-traditional, hands-on instructor. I believe students need to be actively engaged in learning and need to be able to verbalize and apply mathematical principles.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I am a four time teacher of the year at four different schools in two different public school systems. I have been awarded both city-wide and national grants to enhance my teaching.

My own education history

I am a graduate from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. I also hold a National Board of Professional Teachers certificate in Middle Adolescence Mathematics.

Additional biographical information

I specialize in helping struggling learners with mathematics. I have learned that if students can see what mathematics looks like, they can follow it. So not only is it vital to set a good foundation of mathematics through teaching processes, it is important to help those processes stick.
