The SIOP model is an effective tool for teachers, especially when it comes to ELL proficiency. Curriculum alignment has been an overwhelming task to many general education teachers, and has become further complex due to the linguistic make-up of the multicultural classroom. Due to requirements, it has been imperative for student achievement that both content and language proficiency objectives are met.

This professional development resource describes the factors essential to student achievement. It is important not only that teachers know the academic ability of student, however, the contextual factors surrounding that ability.This graduate research study identifies those factors in detail.
