Help your students remember the associative and commutative properties of addition and multiplication through the use of visuals and metaphors. This is great for a vocabulary mini lesson and teacher input. Includes two practice examples for each property plus three bonus, open ended questions to catapult you past surface-level instruction!

I used this worksheet as either guided practice or as an exit ticket. We didn't read the story (Little Red Riding Hood) - just discussed as a class what happened, did the handout and then went on to middle school texts. Also a good idea: I played the song "Firework" by Katie Perry for them and provided a copy of the lyrics. Students were able to "feel" the rising/falling action, etc.

Includes a teacher model and graphic organizer for student writing. Great modification for students with LD!

Originally made for the 3rd grade Open Court version of this story, this can be used in any elementary classroom. 2 pages of comprehension questions, including lots of visuals and 2 BCR/thinking map practice questions.
