This lesson was created for a 1st or 2nd grade math lesson. By using manipulatives, students will be able to determine and follow the rule of given functions, and identify the parts of a function machine. This short introduction lesson strives to engage students as a group to master the skill using concrete representatives. As the concept is grasped, students will be able to work independently without the manipulatives, following the C-R-A sequence.
