Students will read about sugar skulls then design a sugar skull using different symbols that are assigned point values. After students design and color their sugar skull, they will write an expression that represents their sugar skull and it's value. (5.OA.1, 5.OA.2)
Using the task cards, students will identify the property of the equation and solve. This would be great for centers, review day, or formative assessment. You could also use this as a scoot & slide activity!
4th - 7th

Students will use what they learned from 5.OA.1-2 to complete a five question quiz. Students will have to match corresponding expressions to statements and evaluate expressions.
