Moms Making Math

This hands-on course provides practical application of common middle school math concepts, such as measurement, fractions, budgeting, large number operation, etc. It is aimed at upper elementary through middle school, but can be used as help for high schoolers who struggle with math concepts. It includes slides for presenting information, handouts for in-class work and homework, and hand-on extension activities for students. This curriculum is intended to be used over the course of a semester. E

This unit teaches the basics of speed, distance, and time and demonstrates real scenarios to apply these concepts. Extra practice includes collecting data in real time with classmates as well as a take-home extension to complete with dominoes.

This lesson introduces basic understanding of collecting data and organizing into different displays in order to analyze and share and use the data. It includes a candy intro statistics activity as well as handouts and slides for lecturing and notes.

This unit covers concepts of Measurement including Surface Area, Volume, and Perimeter. It includes practical application of these concepts including a project to create your own Mall.

This is a stand alone unit covering Fractions. It includes a powerpoint presentation and note sheet to hand out for students. It is a practical application of fraction concepts

Measurement project where students can design their own shopping center, applying geometry concepts such as area and volume.
