About the store

Experience

Currently a High School Special Education Teacher. I teach small group Algebra and Geometry. I also have experience with co-taught Algebra and Geometry and Statistics.

Teaching style

I gravitate to the Gradual Release Model, where I do a few problems, we do a few problems, and then students try on their own. I also find that Exit tickets are a great resource for putting students in groups based on AKS and not on behavior. My goal is to have more hands on and real world activities brought into the classroom to keep students engaged in their world.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I have the privilage of being my school's only Prisms Virtual Reality Headset Math teacher! I am in love with the program. My students get to travel in VR to different places around the world and solve issues using math. One day we went to Antarctica and calculated the rate of the glacier melting and graphed the linear equation for three causing pollutions. Another day we went to a restaurant to program a robot to move rooftop vegetables in their ideal sun conditions using a grid and rigid transformations.

My own education history

Bachelors Degree in Secondary Education with a Concentration in Mathematics from Grand Canyon University. Certified Math teacher in Georgia, USA Certified in Special Education

Additional biographical information

I see the struggle. I know and feel what you are going through right now. Education is hurting, but in particular Special Education. I want to support you so you can give back to your students but also....to yourself.
