This inside my brain chart can be used in different ways. It can be used to better know your students or this can be great for a writing assignment. What do kids know most about? They know about themselves and can pick which section(s) they want to write about. I had these posted on a bulletin board for everyone to see. This also allowed the kids to see what they had in common with each other.

Included are bookmarks and sign containing quick and easy reading codes to code the students' thinking. They are able to track their thinking with these quick and easy bookmarks that can be carried with them anywhere. I punched holes and tied a ribbon loop so that students can hang around their wrists to bring to carpet with them when we have our shared reading. My kids even keep them in their independent reading book to code their independent reading.

Our school adopted this strategy playbook to help students for the STAAR test.

These half sheets are a quick and easy way to check comprehension of a text that a student is independently reading.
