Experience

Welcome to Moving Mountains in Primary! Teaching style

My teaching style is grounded in the Science of Reading and focuses on building strong foundational literacy skills through explicit, structured instruction. I believe students learn best when phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension are taught systematically and reinforced through meaningful practice. In my classroom, I combine direct instruction with engaging, hands-on activities that allow students to practice new skills in small groups, literacy centers, and games. I place a strong emphasis on phonemic awareness, phonics, and orthographic mapping so students develop the decoding skills they need to become confident, independent readers. I also believe learning should be interactive and motivating. That’s why many of the resources I create incorporate games, movement, and collaborative activities that help students stay engaged while practicing essential literacy skills. My goal is to provide structured, research-based learning experiences that support all learners while making literacy instruction manageable and enjoyable for teachers.

My own education history

Education & Professional Background I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies and a Master of Education in Elementary Education. My academic training and classroom experience have given me a strong foundation in effective literacy instruction and child development. I currently work as a dyslexia therapist, providing targeted reading intervention for students who need explicit, structured literacy instruction. My work focuses on helping students develop essential skills in phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, spelling, and reading fluency using approaches aligned with the Science of Reading. In addition to working directly with students, I enjoy creating practical, research-based resources that support teachers and specialists in delivering engaging, effective literacy instruction. My goal is to design materials that make structured literacy instruction accessible, meaningful, and manageable in both classroom and intervention settings.

Additional biographical information

A Little About Me Outside of my work in literacy intervention, I’m a busy mom to a two-year-old with another little one on the way! I love spending time at home with my family, especially baking sourdough, playing games together, and getting outside whenever we can. Whether we’re exploring nature, going for walks, or enjoying simple time at home, I value the everyday moments that make family life special. These experiences as a mom also inspire the resources I create. I know how valuable engaging, meaningful learning experiences are for young children, and I love designing activities that help students build confidence and joy in reading.
