Students will analyze various problems pertaining to cookies. Students will answer problems about the ratio between different cookie types. Students will create their own pictures and their own problems about ratios.
Students will learn about money management while working with percents and positive and negative rational number operations. Students have a fixed budget and five categories in which they will spend money in. Each category budget is based on a given percent of their overall budget.
Students will be exposed to income inequality in America and connect graphing lines equations to this real world example. By the end there will be graphs from all income groups that can be compared and have deep meaningful discussions about the income inequality of America.
Students will find a recipe for their favorite food and use their recipe and their knowledge of proportions and unit rates to manipulate their recipe to cook for more or less people.
