This page of matching asks your students to contrast some basic elements of the Declaration of Independence, the US Constitution, and leaders during this time. It assumes you've already taught basics about the Revolutionary War, the Founding Fathers, and the Declaration and Constitution. There is more than one way to correctly match the items.

This is Part 1 of a 3-part coloring book I made as a 4th Grade Teacher in Everett, Washington. In the spirit of the Seattle Underground tour, I wrote and illustrated this humorous cartooning of some people, places, and events in Washington's history for students to read, color, and enjoy. :)

This rubric/checklist is for 5-paragraph, expository-why essays at the intermediate levels. I use it for fourth grade. It is designed to offer brief, but specific feedback to students amid the process of drafting multiple essays over a short period of time. While the scoring of writing process, conventions, content, organization, and style are only basically described, the document also contains a checklist detailing the content of each of the 5 paragraphs. I've used this scoring rubric for grading 4th grade narrative writing for a few years. It features 4321 scoring for Conventions, the Writing Process, Content, Organization, and Style. There is also space for teacher comments. But I really like the space at the end, where you can ask students to reflect on the markings to plan a couple ways to improve their next narrative assignment. -Mr. H.
