Looking for a self-correcting way that keeps kids engages while teaching the all important concept of money? I've included instructions on the first page, so it can be sent home for extra practice, too! This set includes 9 separate tiles, in increasing difficulty. In my class, I simply print out three of each (so there is enough for all) and designate two checkers, while I do small group intervention (using the same tiles!).
PowerPoint that goes with Contractions aren't that hard lesson plan (which is free). By the way, PLEASE make sure that you get the kids involved with this PowerPoint. I've tried to include some transitions that really get their attention. (One student "threw" the contraction into the right place, while I clicked the mouse). This goes great with the worksheet, too!
Use this hundred chart and decoder to show students the patterns that exist in the hundred chart. It works by students placing the star on the number in question. The decoder (use printed transparencies or cheap paper (too thin)) to see what ten more, ten less, one less, and one more than the number is. Students love that they can figure it out by themselves!
Here is the "product" that the students complete after the lesson, song, and PowerPoint (see my other postings). What I liked most about this is the ability to quickly scaffold by putting in more "hints", or changing the words in Word.
Looking for a self-correcting way that keeps kids engages while teaching the all important base ten system of place value? Here it is. Students love the varied ways that base ten is provided (sets of bowling pins-10s and single pins-1) There's even dimes and pennies. I've included instructions on the first page, so it can be sent home for extra practice, too!
Contractions are usually a difficult subject for students to comprehend, after all where does that apostrophe go. This lesson works to show students the three steps to creating a contraction out of two words. I written a song about contractions, make up some mnemonics for my English Learners (although all the students end up using them) and created a worksheet that can be completed individually or in pairs.

Four leaf clover, four number sentences in a fact family. With this PDF that you can edit, change, and use over and over again, your students will get practice at one of the most crucial skills that I try to teach my kids, the reciprocity of addition and subtraction.
