Teaching students how to write DBQs have been a challenge. Many students develop create ideas but stop short of specific explanation. I created this HIPP writing guide as a way to help my students strengthen their arguments. It has worked so far and I have seen an increase in writing skills.

I am a high school social studies teacher. I've taught all levels of both World History and U.S History to include: ESE, ESOL, Regular, Honors and A.P.

Teaching style

My teaching style focuses on a flipped classroom. The first day, I follow a more traditional practice of an interactive lesson. Each lesson focuses not only on content material, but critical thinking questions and discussions along with primary and secondary source analysis. My material is chunked to offer maximum comprehension. The next day, students will reinforce their learning through an activity. I do believe in class discussion. I believe in student centered learning.
