Started my career as a Grade 1 teacher in an international school in Hong Kong. From there, I moved to an IB school in Kyoto, Japan. Over 6 years there, I taught the PYP curriculum in Grade 1 for two years, and then in a 4/5 split for 4 more years.
After 6 years in Japan, I moved back home to Canada. I was lucky enough to find employment in an IB school.

Just a few word problems to give some practice with bar models. These are similar to questions found in the Grade 5 Singapore Math program. There are 4 questions and an answer key with bar models to help show solution. Singapore Math Word Problems Made by Students
My Grade 5 students have created over 70 word problems that follow the Singapore Math program. Most problems can be solved by using bar models. We have included problems from each of the following units: Whole Numbers, Fractions, Multiplying and Dividing Fractions, Ratio, Decimals, Percentage, Average and Rate. This project was in conjunction with one of our units of inquiry. 50% of the proceeds from sales will be donated to a STEM outreach charity. The remainder will be used for various classr
