Distance learning is the mother of invention! Teaching middle schoolers over Zoom this year has forced me to re-think every lesson I've ever made. So many lessons just don't work when teaching virtually! This lesson was originally created as a review activity for my Algebra students: to make sure that they were familiar will all of the types of equations they should have learned about in 6th and 7th grade before we moved on to our Algebra I content. I have since adapted it to several other Math

Domination is a game that has evolved slowly over the years in my classroom, but has become more and more of a fixture with each new iteration. I originally created it as a fun way to get students to practice using the slope formula, and it still is best used to practice repetitive skills or practice using formulas. I have Google Sheets available in my store that will calculate and check students' answers for Calculating Slope, Writing Linear Equations From Two Points, Solving Systems of Equati

The thought process behind this activity is to get students thinking critically about the steps needed to solve a multistep equation. Prep: Each page has a different equation (25 total), separated into strips. The strips for each equation must be cut and then mixed up so that students have to reorder them to "solve" the equation. I always just have the students do this as their warmup activity the day of. This is great as a stations activity or as an interactive notebook activity - I have done i

A fun way to create and recreate small groups quickly within the same activity. Each student receives a card that has five characteristics: color, shape, number, letter, and font. Students group together with classmates of the same characteristic to solve a problem together, and then... SCATTER! All the groups split up and regroup based on the next characteristic. Adaptable to any content, although originally created to practice Comparing and Ordering Numbers. Included: 25 SCATTER! Cards & 25
