I found that color coding parts of speech was the easiest way for my students to identify each word. We would color code our DOL in the mornings and I would often have them color code their writing. It was a great way for students to see how often they started a sentence with an article. Often times I would have students tell me, "Mrs. B, I don't have any pink words in my paper!" I would respond with, "How about you add some adjectives to color your writing?" :)

Students got to sit where they wanted. Each month they needed to pay rent to continue sitting where they wanted to sit. If a student co
