About the store
After graduation, I worked for 4 years at my local Catholic high school, teaching Years 7-9 English and Humanities. This included time as the Humanities Facilitator, where I was responsible for curriculum development, staff and budgets.
After that time I transferred to my current school, a Catholic primary school. I'm now entering my 6th year at this school (broken up by two periods of maternity leave) and have been a general classroom teacher for many Grade 3 - 6 students. I have also taught a school wide Healthy Communities Program involving cooking, health and agriculture.

Ice Cream in a Bag Experiment
The use of this Ice-Cream in a bag experiment will allow students to learn more about heat transfer and states of matter (turning a liquid into a solid).
Students will work through the scientific process in posing an inquiry question, writing a hypothesis, listing any potential variables, following the method and then writing a conclusion based on the writing prompts.

This Soil Types and Water Retention Experiment will allow students to take a closer look at the properties of soil types such as gravel, sand, potting mix and clay.
Students will discover what properties of soil are needed in order to retain water.
A follow up experiment would be the Mrs Carters Classroom Erosion Experiment.
Through completing the worksheet, students will be asked to list their hypothesis, identify any variables, record their results and draw conclusions.

Beginning of the Year Procedures, Rules and Classmates
This activity sheet would be fantastic to use on the first day of school, before the classroom rules are set.
Students are asked to think about the qualities they would most like to see in their classmates.

This Winter Olympics Research Task requires students to form groups and be given a competing country to research.
Groups will need to be allocated some classroom display space in order to present their information.

Droid Robot Glyph
This glyph activity is perfect as a beginning of the year activity in any Star Wars themed classroom. Students follow the directions to design their own droid robot glyph.
To test how well students can read and interpret data, students could put their names on the back of their droid and see is others can work out which droid belongs to which student.
In addition to the instructions, a male and female droid outline has been included.

Start of Term Goal Sheet
The Start of Term Goal Sheet is a great tool for students to reflect on the areas that they are good at and areas that need improvement.
Students then list three goals that they would like to work towards during the term, how they think they could reach these goals and the people who could help them.
At the end of the term, there is a section for students to reflect on whether they have reached their goal and the stars for them to give an overall self-rating on their classwork and behaviour.

Best and Worst Insulators Heat Experiment
In this Science experiment, students will be testing a variety of cup types to determine which is the best insulator.
Students will be asked to make a hypothesis on the type of cup they think will best retain the heat of the water.
Students will then fill each cup with the same amount of water and microwave them for 1 minute (the teacher may like to do this because of the "hot water" factor).
Students will then take the initial temperature of the water and then the temperature again when 10

This student reflection and goal sheet is a good tool for students to use to reflect back on the term just finished and to make goals and plan for the future. Students are asked to reflect on their behavior, classwork and other areas of school life.

Heat Energy Experiment
In this Science Experiment, students will be investigating how the size of a metal impacts the amount of heat it can absorb. Students will do this by heating two different sized nails and then placing them in different cups of water so that the temperature can be recorded.
This worksheet lists the materials and method required to complete the experiment and students will be asked to pose an inquiry question, to list a hypothesis, record and graph the data and draw conclusions.

Changes to the Earth
This project / assignment is titled the 3rd Rock Cafe Menu.
Students are asked to select from the 3 options for each Entree, Main and Dessert.
In the Entree section, students get to choose between researching about different types of landforms, the slow changes to Earth (weathering, erosion and deposition) and the fast changes to Earth (volcanoes, landslides and earthquakes).

Force and Speed Friction Experiment
In this Science experiment, students will be testing how much the height of a ramp and the weight of a toy car effect the distance the car travels.
Students should be given some time to experiment with their ramp and car by increasing or decreasing the ramp height and adding weights to the car (weights could be as simple as coins taped to the car).

In this fun outdoor Maths activity, students will work with a partner and take turns to throw a frisbee.
Students are then required to use a tape measure to measure the distance they have thrown the frisbee and record the results as centimetres and metres, in centimetres and in metres.
