I am a big proponent for developing functional skills in students that they can apply in classrooms outside of mine, in their homes, and within the communities they will work and live in. I believe it is very important for students to have independent work skills, communication that can be understood by unfamiliar conversation partners, and self-care skills that can give them the best possibility quality of life. My classroom runs on many stations/centers made up of work boxes, task cards, and file folders to promote everyone working at their own pace and level.
