Blending cards help students to use and apply phonics so they are able to successfully decode words in text. The Orton-Gillingham method utilizes blending cards and they work will ALL students. The first page of this text teaches you how to use the cards with students from beginning to advanced levels. Also includes a link to a video that models the technique!

Students will prepare for a compare/contrast essay in Escape Room style! This is a self-guided activity. Students work in groups to read fables, determine the morals, learn about compare/contrast writing and use their analogy and vocabulary skills to prepare for writing an essay in which they compare the morals of two of Aesop's fables. This is a highly motivating activity and a fun way to get students in to the process of writing.

Kids love popcorn. They will love Tomie DePaolo's book, The Popcorn Book. They will love this Promethean board flipchart of extension activities even more! The flipchart contains before reading and after reading activities. Students will make a chart of how often they eat popcorn, pull statements out of a popcorn bucket, sing songs and vote on the best information in the book. This is a great resource whether you are using the book in class or preparing a thematic unit on popcorn!
