Experience

I began teaching in a middle school and taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math for 3 years. Then, I transferred to a high school and have been there for the past 4 years. At the high school level I have taught Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Advanced Algebra, Pre College Algebra, and an Introduction to Python Computer Programing class. Teaching style

I like to mix up my teaching styles depending on the type of class and the type of lesson. Launching new material will contain a mix of exploratory activities paired with direct instruction. Recently, I have been focusing more on partner work and group work to give my students the opportunity to engage with one another and talk with each other using mathematic vocabulary to explain their thinking. I try to make learning fun as fun and relevant as possible. Due to my classrooms being filled with students at various academic levels and ELLs, I provide many resources such as anchor charts and step by step checklists to help scaffold and guide students towards proficiency.

My own education history

Undergrad: SUNY Binghamton University - Bachelors Degree in Mathematics and Minor in Music. Graduate School: St. John's University for Masters' Degree in Adolescent Education 7-12 with a focus in Mathematics.
