This is my 18th year in education:
I taught one year in 3rd grade,
four years in 5th grade, and
ten years in 2nd grade.
I was a K-5 Reading Interventionist for 2 years, and now,
I'm the school librarian, so I teach all the students pre-K through 5th grade!
I taught in a RURAL district my first year, a SUBURBAN district for nine years, and currently teach in a diverse URBAN district in a school where over half the population is ESOL.

Down By The Bay mini Activity Book
As a K-5 Reading Interventionist, I created this resource to work with my Kindergarten group on identifying the initial sounds in words. It is a fun song that can also teach the kids some vocabulary and works on rhyming. I think it could also be a good activity for 1st graders. Print pages 1 and 2 front-to-back and pages 3 and 4 front-to-back on their short sides. Blank Calendar with Scripture Doodles | Teacher Planner
This planner is a simple, undated, black-and-white calendar. I have included 3 cover page options. It has monthly spreads and weekly spreads. Each 2-page spread has a Bible verse doodle somewhere. This game was created per someone's request. :) There are 2 game board options: products in numerical order and randomly placed products. Print the game board on cardstock and laminate it. In the second half of the year, after we've learned most of the vowel sounds, we work on homophones. I made a lot of these activities to supplement our decoding routine, so they got the normal phonics lesson and a bonus activity to practice. Teaching style
I prefer for my classroom to be a calm learning environment. I prefer engaging and rigorous activities. I think collaboration and building relationships is key.
Now that I'm in the library, organization is super important to me, to help my clientele find exactly what they need. I have worked hard this year to make the library kid-friendly in the way it is organized and advertised. It is my goal to connect kids with literature for enjoyment and to show them that there is something for everyone in the library.
