This is an editing checklist that can be used in grades 2-4. It contains checking punctuation, capital letters, spelling, run on sentences and conferencing. This can use independently by the student.

This is a rubric that can be used to score an autobiography writing piece. Included in the grade is grammar, spelling and neatness. I broke the autobiography down into five parts: Introduction, life events, important people, mistakes and lessons and things you are proud of.

This is a quiz I gave after reading chapters 1-10. It is 10 short answer questions that ask about characters, main idea and setting.

Students pick someone who was involved in the Civil War and complete a project on them. They will be graded on their written report, project and presentation. Total points add up to 100.

This is a science review test that can be given before the actually test as practice. It covers animal and plant adaptations and adaptation vocabulary words.

When reading fables students can record the problem and solution. This can be done during reading workshop. This activity can be done while reading independently.

This is a science test that deals with adaptations of plants and animals. It contains matching, short answer and filling in a chart. It goes with the review test that I also have posted.

This is a chart you can use to tell students where to sit during independent reading. I put each student's name on a clothes pin and move it up and down the chart each week to change their book nooks. Students love sitting around the room while reading!

I went through the common core standards for Math Grade 3 and made an outline of the topics the students need to know. I made it into a spread sheet with three boxes under each topic. I use it to write down the students who are struggling, doing okay and get the topic. You can use this for data driven instruction.

This is an activity that the students can complete when they finish reading a book. After each book a student read I would have them fill one of them out. I would punch a hole in each paper and they would hang it up on their circle hook. At the end of the year they had the circle hook to show all the books they read during the year.

This is a worksheet that can be used during reading workshop independent reading time. While students are reading they will pick a part of the story and visualize it. They will write about what they hear, smell, taste, feel and see.

This worksheet has a poem called Predictable that is a poem of similes. I then deleted the second half of the similes and left it blank for students to come up with new words to use as similes.
