About the store
I have been a public school teacher for the past nineteen years, at the middle and high school levels. During the past sixteen years I have been afforded many professional development opportunities, mostly through the AFT. I am trained in Differentiated Instruction, Data and Assessment, Reading Comprehension Instruction, Teaching Writing, and Foundations of Effective Teaching. I am also a trained evaluator under the Rhode Island Innovation Consortium's evaluation system. Becoming an evaluator has helped me to become more reflective of my practice.
I currently teach 11th grade English to Collaborative- students and honors students.

This product is a “Round of Applause” Note Home that allows you to give positive feedback to students and parents in a quick and efficient manner.
This product was created out of necessity as I was trying to make phone calls home every week for students who were doing well or improving. With 100 students, this became very difficult especially because it could not be done on the spot and would be something I would have to get to later, and we all know how the day can sometimes just take over.

Narrative Elements Lesson with Plot Line Map
This lesson is used as an introduction to narrative texts/narrative writing. There are four parts included in this lesson:
1. Student notes on the elements of a narrative piece. The student notes have some blanks so that the students can fill in the notes as you go over them.

Guess Who? Get to know you game
The following is a quick and easy game I like to play with the students at the beginning a new school year/trimester, etc. Students simply fill out the form. I then have students stand in one line in the front of my room. I then read each slip one at a time. Students step forward if the statement I read is answered the same way they answered the statement. Once only one person is continuing to step forward, I read the remaining statements and have them share what they answered. It is a gre

Group work cue cards for redirection/ group management
These are cue cards that I use in my classroom to silently and discreetly redirect a group who is off task or losing focus. All groups start off with the green smiley face. If they are starting to lose focus or are somewhat off task or perhaps too loud, I will give them a yellow "review group rule" card. If a group is not at all on task and not following directions, they are given a red card which asks them to "stop and regroup." This is only offered as a PDF so that it will format correctly

Teaching style
What I love most about my job is that I am able to be creative everyday! Everyday brings with it new challenges, successes, and surprises. Most importantly, I love connecting with my students and my daily vocab and grammar warm up and QOD are my favorite way to do that!
Awards & shining teacher moments
While I have thoroughly enjoyed some of my professional accomplishments mentioned above, what has always been my greatest accomplishment is the impact I am able to have on my students. The small notes, emails, or words of gratitude from former students are what make everything worthwhile. That is why I go to work everyday.
