This is a mini unit on the drought in California. It includes reading passages with reading questions, a spelling list, graphic organizers, and a rubric. It explains the drought in kid friendly terms.

This is a fun informational writing and craft that requires a little imagination. Students are asked to research penguins and then make an advertisement for a pet shop. A penguin craft is included to accompany the ad.

Have you students make a turkey to help practice multiplication facts.

Use this activity to get to know your students at the start of the school year. Give your students a blank disc or use the paper one provided. Tell the students to imagine there is an autobiographical movie coming out about them. What would their movie be about? What facts would they want to share with the viewer? Have them answer the questions provided and decorate the DVD cover. Students can present to the class so everyone can learn about one another!
