About the store
I graduated college in the spring of 2016 with a double major in Art and Education. I have sense then taught Jr high and High school art in a poverty stricken school district. I have spoken at my state art conference and have shared my Advanced art "TAB" with several teachers who have since become a great group of peers. I hope to build this group of peers as I share my lessons and work.

My Advanced Art class has a TAB set up that allows the students to pick their projects from my provided lessons. This document provides ten of their projects, all of which are basic Ceramics projects. These are great "Beginning" art projects that introduce them to their higher standard of requirements AND the freedom of media that can be used while still meeting the requirements set before them. Note: Document built in Google Docs. Transferring to Microsoft Word can cause changes in format.

The projects in my class are consistently worth 50 OR 100 points. This means I can have a "generic" rubric for the students to be graded on. These rubrics allow me to have a grading system in place that the students understand and gives them some regularity in a normally chaotic classroom. I love having my students grade themselves and leave me notes regarding their project as it helps me when I grade their work. This also gives me a chance to communicate to them what they need to work on when

This powerpoint includes examples, need-to-know information, and tips and hints to create a great series of interactive drawings. The project will require students to challenge their creative problem solving as well as learn a great process that can help them in every project for the year. This project is a part of my Advanced Art class but could easily be taught at an Art One level.

My Advanced art students are considered Advanced for the sole reason that they have passed art one. This means that they have had me at least once, if not three times before they are allowed into the Advanced course. These students have a little more freedom to learn while making their own decisions. This Power Point shows how the TAB class is set up, which seems to encourage creativity and push the students out of their comfort zones.

Every friday my class participates in Friday Reflections. These reflections are split between three things: compare and contrast, video reflections, and historical artwork guesstures. This Power Point covers the discussion topics and chosen artworks for the Compare and Contrast reflections. Also included are the papers I have them use for these reflections.

This Power Point is what I use to introduce my Five P's. It includes a slide for each "P" along with notes for the teacher to see what I do to discuss each term and my expectations of the students in regards to each term. Aside from the Power Point, the only supplies needed for this are a pencil and paper. This Power Point, along with the activity, is about 20 minutes.

This form is used in my Advanced Art "TAB" classroom. While the students get to choose their projects, they have to choose from my provided lessons. They do get a chance to make up their own projects, by filling out this form and pitching their idea to me. They have to answer three questions and have a handful of thumbnails and/or examples for their project to be "Okayed". In this packet is the form itself AND a sheet that covers their optional media and their usual uses to get them started.

My Jr High LOVES this project. We study both artists while discussing color, line, and new terms. The art always comes out so colorful and shows each student's personality. This project is also set up to encourage free choice in their art. This means that the artwork always ends up being very unique!

Teaching style

I have built a "Scaffold" into my curriculum. This "Scaffold" builds on new and prior knowledge, just like anyone's, however its overall goal is to build on their courage. I am a strong believer in the ability of art to build a young adult's courage and excitement for learning. I even grade my students with this as my goal. My grading focuses less on their abilities and more on their courage to step out of their comfort zones and come into my art room as an artist.
