Engage your students in a hands-on, inquiry-based lab activity where they design and monitor a competitive environment for plants to explore the effects of competition on growth. Over the course of 14 days, students will create, observe, and analyze plant growth in different environmental scenarios, fostering critical thinking and alignment with NGSS standards.
Students will engage in an exciting and hands-on challenge to design, build, and optimize a bridge made entirely of paper notecards to hold the most weight. This activity integrates the NGSS Science and Engineering Practices (SEPs) and promotes critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity.
Boost your students' understanding of ecosystems with this engaging, vocabulary-focused article! Designed for middle school science classrooms, this resource introduces key ecological terms and concepts in a clear, student-friendly format. The included check-for-understanding questions ensure students grasp the material and provide a quick and effective formative assessment tool.
This is a quick and creative way to find out what is important to your students and how they see their selves. Great first day or week activity that can be quick or adapted to become an SEL lesson.

Experience
I have taught a wide range of subjects from AP Biology, Chemistry, Forensic Science, Physical Science, Earth Science, and Anatomy. I have taught a wide range of grade levels as well. From high school to middle school.
Teaching style
I strongly believe that students learn better when they are having fun, enjoying what they are doing, and connecting to the teacher and each other. I try to develop lessons that are rigorous and hands on.
My own education history
I have a B.S in Forensic Science and a Masters in Cell and Molecular Biology. Becoming a teacher was a second career for me after years of working in labs.
